Eating the Sunshine but Tasting the Poison

There are people in your life whom you look up to and sometimes, you’ll just believe that they’ll be your guardians. You believe that they’re going to step in and pick up the pieces, or even protect you. But somehow, you don’t see it. You don’t see the disguise because you blindly look up to them. You blindly believe in the good, that even though despite they are not blood, they would still have your back. Whether it be a friend, an extended relative, someone new who joins your family, anyone you consider close. Eventually after a few tries, you’ll walk out the cloud your head is in and you’ll see that all along while you thought you were eating the sunshine, you were actually tasting the poison. But only now does the taste become prominent on your tastebuds. Only now do you see that this person you were holding in such high regard, is nothing but a human trying to fight his/her own battles. He/she is just someone who didn’t realize you were waiting on them to lead the way, to protect you, to guide you, and so they don’t realize that they’ve failed you. In this case, you’ve to forgive them, you just have to while finding the strength to toughen your mind and believe that you’re actually the only one who is going to make the effort to truly ever be there for yourself.

When you find this, when you learn to depend on yourself, you won’t ever need another person to rescue you.
