Acceptance

Accept(ance) can be a powerful word. I believe it is an ideal we need to take with us every day, especially into the new year. So often we are caught in selfish motives – we want more, our looks displace us, we wish for things. We get lost in this assumed depravity that we take for granted what has been bestowed upon us. But as the first step to happiness, we need to accept. Accept and love who we are. Accept and love what we have. Accept and love what happens. Instead of casting complaints, we need to change what we can control and accept the things that are beyond our power. Look at yourself and believe you are beautiful. Because you truly are. Accept. Love. Appreciate.

One of the greatest battles we face, is accepting ourselves when someone does not love us back with the same measure of intensity. Another, is accepting that someone isn’t meant for us. The denial forces us in a shallow hole of self – ill speak, we think of ourselves worthless. I know it because I’ve been there. I’ve done that. I am playing the role of know it all. Many times we fail to recognize this pattern of behavior, but we need to open our eyes and we need to accept things for what they come.

Love is often blamed for the hurt we feel. But is it rightful to blame love? In my opinion it is not. Love is a feeling like happiness or sadness. It is an action like the act of giving something and not expecting anything in return. What hurts is our human trait of having expectations. Expectations is that drill which is going to drive us into the deep of no return from hurt. We expect too much but rather, we just need to accept instead of expect. Accept that people are not going to treat us the way we treat them. Accept that someone will not feel the same. Everyone feels on a different scale.

Acceptance is very vital to our happiness and peace. The more we can accept things, then a greater place we can position ourselves. Acceptance will waft tranquility over you like the sea breeze, and you will see, there will not be much to worry about once you accept. Through acceptance comes the beautiful relic of appreciation.
